Viure prop de zones verdes redueix l’obesitat infantil
Un estudi científic del CREAL confirma els beneficis per a la salut de viure prop d’espais verds i blaus (boscos, parcs, llacs, mar, etc.) ja que redueixen l’obesitat i el sobrepès. L’únic problema és que els investigadors han comprovat que això augmenta la possibilitat d’al·lèrgies, encara que no els casos d’asma. Segons afirma l’autor de l’estudi Payam Dadvand, investigador del CREAL, centre aliat ISGlobal, viure prop de zones verdes s’associa amb entre l’11-19{3effe4377b6f02be2524d084f7d03914ac32a2b62c0a056ca3444e58c1f10d0b} menys de prevalença de sobrepès/obesitat i una reducció del temps davant d’un televisor o pantalla. De la mateixa manera, la proximitat residencial als boscos (àrees verdes més grans) s’ha associat amb un 39{3effe4377b6f02be2524d084f7d03914ac32a2b62c0a056ca3444e58c1f10d0b} i un 25{3effe4377b6f02be2524d084f7d03914ac32a2b62c0a056ca3444e58c1f10d0b} de menor prevalença relativa de temps de pantalla excessiu i de sobrepès/obesitat, respectivament, però no es va associar amb asma. Per contra, aquells que viuen a prop dels parcs tenen un 60{3effe4377b6f02be2524d084f7d03914ac32a2b62c0a056ca3444e58c1f10d0b} de risc major de patir asma, encara que quasi no es van detectar associacions amb l’obesitat. En aquest estudi els investigadors van utilitzar dades de 3.178 nens en edat escolar (9-12 anys d’edat) a Sabadell, Espanya (2006), a través de qüestionaris. A més d’això, van mesurar el “verdor” circumdant residencial com la mitjana de diferència normalitzada obtinguda per satèl·lit amb l’Índex de Vegetació (NDVI) en distàncies de 100 m, 250 m, 500 m, i 1000 m al voltant de cada domicili. La proximitat residencial als espais verds es va definir a viure a uns 300 metres d’un bosc o un parc.
