Ribera d’Ebre
Amb l’objectiu de mesurar la transferència transplacentària i per la lactància de l’hexaclorobenzè (HCB) i els efectes sobre el desenvolupament neuroconductual d’aquest element, es va constituir una cohort amb tots els nounats del poble de Flix i de 5 pobles del voltant (tots de la comarca de Ribera d’Ebre), entre el març de 1997 i el desembre de 1999. Aquest estudi es justificava pels alts nivells que es van trobar en aquestes poblacions i per la falta d’estudis específics de l’HCB en nounats.
S’hi van incorporar 94 dels 118 naixements de tota la zona, però també es va disposar de la informació de l’embaràs i del part i de sang de cordó d’uns altres 8 infants (i, per tant, la cohort es va constituir amb un total de 102 nens). Aquests infants es van avaluar en el moment del naixement, a les 8 setmanes de vida, a l’any de néixer i als 4 anys.
