Ribera d’Ebre
Con el objetivo de medir la transferencia transplacentaria y por la lactancia del hexaclorobenceno (HCB) y los efectos sobre el desarrollo neuroconductual, se construyó una cohorte con todos los recién nacidos del pueblo de Flix y de 5 pueblos colindantes (de la comarca de Ribera d’Ebre), entre marzo de 1997 y diciembre del 1999. Este estudio se justificaba por los altos niveles encontrados en dichas poblaciones y la falta de estudios específicos del HCB en recién nacidos.
Se incorporaron 94 de los 118 nacimientos de toda el área pero se dispuso de la información de embarazo y parto y sangre de cordón de otros 8 niños (un total de 102). Estos niños fueron evaluados en el momento del nacimiento, a las 8 semanas de vida, al año y a los 4 años.
