National Geographic rewards control carbon emissions
Washington has welcomed these first days of February, the Second Annual Summit Geotourism Change, and in the course of it the airline of Costa Rica Nature Air received a prestigious award from National Geographic media group. The jury applauded the line of work that continues to this carrier, which calculates the carbon dioxide they emit their aircraft, later to offset these emissions with the purchase of land and the resulting tree planting on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica.
Pioneering initiative
This brilliant initiative, pioneered by Alexi Juntley, commercial director of Nature Air, has just been awarded, but the line of action of Nature Air is well marked since 2004, the year he began to make a hundred per cent of their emissions carbon of flight operations, following a program to compensate local, certified by the government and international AUDIOR. Their calculations are processed through the Department of Forestry Finance Government of Costa Rica, which uses the widely accepted guidelines and equal to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to calculate emissions.
So far, according to the words of Huntley, Nature Air has offset nearly 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide by more than 2,000 square meters.
