INMA success of the meeting in Granada

The call was a success, both for the power to convene the meeting as the development of it. Children were fitted for a series of workshops, while parents listened to the words of the professional studio, establishing a fruitful dialogue between both parties.

Words of thanks
he reception ceremony was chaired by the managing director of the hospital. Dr. Diego Garcia Becerra went first to the children present –real INMA project architects– and the parents of the same, who thanked them for their generosity in participating in a study which includes almost 4,000 children living along the Spanish geography. One person who knows most of the effort made by families when working with the demands of the INMA project is Professor Nicolás Olea. The INMA project leader in the cohort of Granada remembered as the 2,000 –year in the study began– were in contact with mothers when they reached the hospital to give birth. That was when they were informed of the characteristics of the study, inviting them to participate. The research coordinator and director Universiario Hospital Research Group 'Environment and Health' was directed to families and especially to mothers with these words. "It was not an easy task, because we accept that we do monitor your children and yourselves, and you are almost 700 families. From the beginning you have answered questionnaires and completed several epidemiological studies. You have consented to analyze the placenta of your children, cord blood, breast milk ... and all this information is still very useful for diagnosis of the situation".

"Without you it would not be possible"
Although, maybe it was Marieta Fernández who gave the spot. Project coordinator INMA-Granada was heading to the families present with words that are on the minds of all parties involved in this venture, and that it never hurts to remember: "Without you, this would not be possible," the once acknowledged the work of all professionals involved and the hospital of Spanish public health system, "in our case of Andalusia", since "only funds projects that get public calls could not be done a project like INMA".

The day ended with the delivery of different gifts. For children presented a fairy tale story collection Mapendo titled 'Paint the air,' and for those over the guide 'Child health and the environment. A lifelong relationship': the first guide to Europe on child health and environment for mothers and fathers based on scientific research, material donated by Fundació Roger Torné.

But, as I said Marieta Fernández itself, the best gift is to have, in the case of Granada, with the support of nearly 700 families in the province.
